The Volvo Ocean Race is the most prestigious round-the-world sailing race.

The race starts in Alicante, Spain on 4 October 2014.

Nine legs and four oceans later, the race finishes on 27 June 2015 in Gothenburg, Sweden. The nine-member crews will have traversed a distance of 40,000 nautical miles (72,000 km), much of it in some of the most demanding sailing conditions in the world. This is the third time that Brunel will be starting in this round-the-world Ocean race.

Team Brunel

Team Brunel is the fourth team to confirm its participation in the upcoming Volvo Ocean Race. A further three teams are expected to follow suit in the coming months. The skipper of Team Brunel is Bouwe Bekking, who will be sailing his seventh Volvo Ocean Race. Sailor Gerd Jan Poortman will also be joining him on Team Brunel.

Are you a sailor who would like to take part in the Volvo Ocean Race on Team Brunel? To qualify, you must have experience with offshore sailing at the highest level.

You will have experience in races such as:
• Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race
• Rolex Fastnet Race
• Trans-Atlantic races
• Olympic campaigns
• Previous editions of the Volvo Ocean Race
